Girls night in

Girls night in

Overdue for a catch-up with the girls? Then organise a Girls Night In (GNI). During the month of October, women are encouraged to spend a night in with their girlfriends, and then donate the money they would've spent on a night out to the Cancer Council. The event raises vital funds to fight women's cancers.

To register to host a Girls Night In (it can take the form of a movie night, cocktails and gossip, a pamper session, whatever you like!), head to the official GNI site, and you can also join the Facebook group.

Invite your friends to your Girls Night In event using one of our gorgeously girly Girls Night In e-invites. It's a great cause and a great excuse for a girly get-together!

Slumber Party

School holiday sleepover!

Got the kids home for school hols at the moment, or just about to start their break? Before they start with the "I'm bored, there's nothing to do" comments, get them excited by suggesting they have a sleepover with a few close buddies.

For kids, there's nothing cooler than inviting your friends to come over and stay the night - there are midnight snacks to plan, DVDs to choose, and the fun of camping out in the lounge room in sleeping bags!

Activities they might like, depending on age and gender: making personal pizzas for dinner, dipping strawberries in melted chocolate for dessert, painting their toenails and doing each other's hair, or interactive games like Wii or PlayStation.

You'll want to make sure the kids get some shut-eye at some point during the evening, so after all the fun of staying up late, set a reasonable "lights out, just whispering" time that's appropriate for your child's age. This way, they'll be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for pancakes in the morning.

Show the kids our cool slumber party invites - they'll think you're the coolest mum in the world for suggesting a sleepover!

Mums 'n' bubs

Mums 'n' bubs morning

Are you a mum (or dad) looking after little ones at home? Kids are loads of fun, but there's no denying that caring for a baby or toddler can be pretty hard work. Yes, the constancy of day-to-day child rearing can be exhausting for even the most energetic of us! It's time, then, for parents 'n' bubs alike to take a break together. And no, it won’t be hard work to host!

Invite your friends who have little ones to join you one weekday for morning tea at your place. Don't feel you have to stay up until midnight the night before baking muffins, either – bundle your bub into the car and head to your local bakery to buy a selection of mini pastries or quiches, then boil the jug, and clear a space big enough for the children to play while the parents enjoy a chance to chat. You deserve it!
